Master of Arts Program in SociologyWhile the graduate program is a Ph.D. program, it does offer continuing students a Master of Arts degree. The program does not admit students for a terminal M.A. degree. Formal requirements for the Master of Arts degree in sociology are the satisfactory completion of graduate studies totaling at least 36 points (at least 24 in residence at New York University with at least a B average) and either a thesis or a comprehensive examination. At least 24 of the points must be in sociology. The courses must include three basic sociology courses, one basic theory course, Methods and Statistics I (G93.2331), and one additional methods course. There is no language requirement for the M.A. degree in sociology. |
