Bio:
I like to think of myself as a scholar, sailor, polyglot, world traveler, and adventurer. I was born in Argentina and have lived most of my adult life in New York City, but sometimes also in Boston, Buenos Aires, Florence, and Paris. After a number of years in the higher-learning industry, I am glad to be back in my profession, as Professor of Sociology, Faculty of Arts and Science, New York University. I find the University and the Department much changed for the better. I was Executive Director of New York University in Florence at Villa La Pietra from 1998 to 2000. In Italy, I was also a Visiting Professorial Lecturer on Latin American Politics at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University, Bologna Center. Among other former positions, I was Associate, then Acting Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Science at New York University, 1994-1997.
