Bio:
Throughout my academic career I have argued that a truly authentic Sociology must not only help us to describe, explain, and understand the many social worlds in which we immersed but also to locate those forces which constrain, promote, and redirect social change. My writings have always revolved around these issues albeit sometimes tilting more heavily in one direction before shifting to the other. One core belief has sustained me: “Academic” Sociology has something to teach us and can be applied to the dilemmas and contradictions of contemporary life without resorting to ideological rabble-rousing or pandering to intellectual conceits of the moment.
